OUR STORY

OUR STORY

Lindsay King is of Saulteaux, Ojibway and Mohawk heritage and a registered member of her father’s Treaty 5 First Nation, Little Grand Rapids, Manitoba. Born in Winnipeg, she is a Mother, Grandmother, Social Worker and Fashion Designer.

Her childhood was spent between her parents First Nations of Little Grand Rapids in Manitoba and Mississaugas of the Credit in Ontario. She also spent some time growing up in Texas and Nevada with her mother and siblings.

From an early age, Lindsay's dream was to own a store and sell clothing. She recalls being naturally drawn to fabric and design, but the lack of Indigenous representation in the fashion industry led her to doubt the possibility of realizing that dream. Instead, Lindsay became a Social Worker and foster parent, dedicating 20 years to serving Indigenous children, families, and communities. Despite the fulfillment she found in this work, her passion for fashion remained unwavering.

In 2014, Lindsay took a bold step toward her dream, enrolling in fashion studies in both Toronto, Canada, and Florence, Italy. With no prior experience in sewing or design, she embraced her new path, bringing to life the garments she had once only imagined. Along the way, she found mentors and artisans who helped to bring her brand to life.

Since its debut in 2022, Lindsay King has grown to include a range of thoughtfully curated accessories, alongside the timeless, luxury garments the brand is known for. Lindsay collaborates with suppliers across Canada and the US who support community initiatives and the work of skilled artisans.

At the heart of Lindsay King's brand is a commitment to designing with care and intention-creating high-quality pieces that celebrate individuality, transcend trends, and inspire others to pursue their own dreams.

To keep your wool and leather garments in top condition, follow these care instructions to ensure they maintain their beauty and longevity:

Dry Cleaning Only

All of our garments are professionally dry clean only. Avoid steaming, as it can damage delicate fabrics and affect the garment’s shape.

Storage

When not in use, always store your garment on sturdy plastic or wooden hangers. Use the garment bag provided with your purchase to protect it from dust and light. Choose broad-shouldered hangers to prevent stretching or misshaping the shoulders.

Handling Spills

Accidents happen! If you spill something on your garment, act quickly. Blot, don’t rub, the area with absorbent cloths or heavy paper towels to absorb the liquid. Rubbing can spread the stain and push it deeper into the fabric. After blotting, we recommend consulting a professional dry cleaner for further care.

Leather Care

For garments with genuine leather, avoid storing them in direct sunlight or heat, as this can cause the leather to fade or crack. For cleaning, take your leather pieces to a leather specialist to ensure they receive the proper care and treatment.

By following these simple steps, your wool and leather garments will retain their quality and last for many years to come.
